Career News: Bayern Munich wanted the Spanish defender/midfielder so bad that to take him from Athletic Bilbao, Bayern's president admitted they had paid “€10m or €15m too much” for him. 

Interesting Personal Facts: Has an edge to him and admitted in May that he might have called Cristiano Ronaldo a “son of a bitch” after a match. Martínez's older brother, Alvaro is also a footballer, though he's mainly only played in the lower leagues.
